Turkey Trot Blog Hop: Ideas, Freebies, and Food Favorites!

15 November 2015

Welcome to “The Chalkies” Turkey Trot! We hope you enjoy a jog through our blogs gobbling up freebies, ideas, and recipes for some holiday joy!

We have a new blog name!  We switched out the word "Primary" for "Elementary". We want to meet the needs of any teacher K-6. Our blog has been thoughtfully designed to help you find what YOU need for YOUR classroom level!

I love those grade level tabs {seen above} that help me grab what I need. This trot will also take you through the grade level blogs of your choice.

Pick up this free poster set for your classroom.
There's never not a time to remember and give thanks for all those around us.

As you approach Thanksgiving break these next two weeks, take time for your own self (and maybe even your class) by sitting silently in your classroom with no sounds or interruptions. Just quiet.  Maybe it's a minute, maybe it's five.  Just stop, sit, relax, and don't do a single. Clear your mind. Seriously--You'd be surprised at how difficult this is.

I've begun doing this almost daily--and it's tougher than it sounds.  But when I find time, I find really makes a difference for me. It's not mediation, it is just a chance for me to focus on nothing and unwind. Silence really can be golden.  There's a lot of things going on this time of the year, so you have to take care of yourself.  Try it.  Be mindful--take time for yourself.

Pumpkin Cookies
These are a staple of our family during any holiday season, or whenever we're in the mood.  They are so good--and I don't even like pumpkin flavored things.  So good, they're basically calorie free.
